Coast Guard seizes 13.7 kg deer meat in Sundarbans

Khulna: The Coast Guard has seized 13.7 kg deer meat, four legs, a head and a deer skin from the area adjacent to Singh Dam in Golkhali under Koyra police station in Khulna district of the Sundarbans.

The estimated value of the seized evidence is Taka 40,000.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan gave this information on Thursday evening.

He said that based on a secret tip-off, the Coast Guard station Koyra conducted a special operation in the area adjacent to Singh Dam in Golkhali at 8 am on Thursday. Deer meat, four legs, a head and a skin were seized from that area during the operation.

He further said that the seized evidence has been handed over to the Kobadak Forest Patrol Outpost for further legal action.

Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan said that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent the killing and smuggling of wildlife.
